Foundation Tips: How to Look Natural with Foundation

Pin It18 Comments

Want to know how to make your foundation melt into your skin and look uber natural? Here are a few tricks you can use.

* Less is more. You can always build up the coverage gradually if necessary.

* Using a foundation brush can help to give an airbrushed look. I highly recommend MAC #190 foundation brush.

* Set your foundation with a spray to take away the cakiness. Try MAC Fix+, rosewater or even just water. Make sure you spray from at least 6-7 inches away.

* Check under natural light to make sure there are no streaks.

* For a natural look, use a tinted moisturizer or simply make your own by mixing your foundation with your moisturizer.

* When you blend foundation, start from the center of your face and blend outwards using light, downward strokes. Powder only your oiliest area to avoid looking too made up.

* If you have applied too much, tone it down by running a slightly moist sponge over your skin.

MAC A Muse Collection Reviews and Photos

The Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo ($16.50) are all very pretty, heavily pigmented and give a shimmery, metallic finish. They are bigger than MAC’s regular pot eyeshadows and similar to the Mineralize Eyeshadows that were released before. The only downside is their fragile nature. Like the regular MAC Mineralize Skinfinshes, these are baked in Italy and they can break easily. I say get all of them if you do not have similar colors.

Illusionary/Burning Ambition: White gold with gold pearlized pigments/Chocolate brown with soft gold pearlized pigments
Bright Side/Gallery Gal: Champagne gold/soft olive green
Persona/Screen Vinyl: White with silver pearlized pigments/Charcoal grey with silver pearlized pigments
Heat/Element: Rich yellow gold/Rusty Red Brown
Interview/Purple-x: Rose Pink/Deep purple with pink pearlized pigments

I already own Shimpagne so I picked up Shooting Star and Porcelain Pink Mineralize Skinfinishes ($23.50). Shooting Star, the darkest out of the three, is a soft caramel tan with gold sparkle which is a great color for contouring. Shimpagne is a shimmery beige color. It is great as a highlighter and it makes my NC30 skin glow. I also use it for contour. Porcelain Pink is a shimmery pale pink and it adds a irridescent pink glow and would look great on the apples.

There are four Fluidlines ($14.50). Lithograph is a charcoal color. It is very pretty and the perfect color for doing a smoky eye. New Weed is a deep khaki with gold pearlized pigments which is a lot darker than MAC’s Sweet Sage fluidline. Graphic Brown is a deep chocolate brown with shimmer and almost a liquid version of MAC Teddy eye kohl. It is very pretty and would look great on light eyes. Frostlite, the only one that is not limited edition, is a warm white with gold pearl. I thought it would be great to use in the waterline but it is too sheer and does not stay on.
